On the recommendation of the trainer, I bought one and all was well at first. She fitted the harness to Diesel, he let it be put on without trouble, and walking him was as easy if not better than using the prong collar. Now he wants to fight having the belly strap put on. The fit is still the same, he's not grown or gotten fatter so it's not an issue of it being too tight. He acts up but the minute you get it snapped, he's fine and ready to go for a walk. It reminds me of when you see the scene in a movie when a bridle is first put on an untamed horse. Anyone have any ideas what's going on here?
He may have gotten pinched by accident when you put it on.
Standard desensitization - put the harness on without clipping the belly strap, reward him, take it off. Repeat until he is fine with that step. Then clip the strap, reward, remove, repeat. (I slide my fingers underneath the strap before unclipping to ensure that no skin is caught)
I think kaytris is right and she gave you excellent advice.
(BTW, I have an Easy Walk and much prefer it over the Gentle Leader head collar. But it did thake me a week of adjusting and readjusting to get a good fit.)

Thanks, I will certainly try that. He walks so good on it that I don't want him to be afraid or unwilling to use it. Thanks again for the advice!
