    DefaultNot a lab but..

My husband's mother died and we inherited her 9 year old Shih Tzu. Things are going well but he's not crate trained. We travel occassionally and the crates has been invaluable when we're at someone else's home, dog shows etc.
Does anyone have any ideas of how we should start this? I just don't want to make a major mistake and screw it up for the poor boy.

Start feeding him in the crate and also give him treats whenever he enters the crate. Never respond to whining or barking if you know he's done his business outside and is watered and fed. A nine year old might be tough to break because he's lived a long life of not having to be crated, but I'm sure it's possible.
