    DefaultUrinary incontinence after TPLO

Hi-I'm mew to the board. my 6 yr. old had, Percy, had TPLO Tuesday Oct. 29. He's doing really well except for one troubling issue, urinary incontinence. The vet says this can be a side effect of the epidural and should resolve within 2 weeks. Has anyone experienced this? Should I have him checked for a urinary tract infection? I would prefer not to have to put him in the car again.

He does urinate frequently when I take him out. Stream is week and interrupted. He goes from place to place and squats. I don't think he is completely evacuating. His bedding is wet. He has a fairly steady drip. We've gotten some pee pads to help with the bedding but I'm worried that this might be a permanent condition.

I would appreciate any comments or experiences anyone else has had.

    Thanks!

Wouldn't your vet be able to test for a UTI if you take a sample of urine in for him to test?

I had asked the same question. I wanted to just bring in a sample. They told me they need a clean catch and would want to see him to get it. I'm thinking it might be worth it. He is dripping quite a bit. I was hoping someone had the same experience and could validate the surgeon's info.
