I am really thinking about a new camera. The more you look the more I can get confused. My husband was a big Nikon person when he was a photographer. What camera does everyone here use?

    I have a Canon PowerShot S500.

I have a Nikon D70s. Actually my entire family has Nikons (brother has teh D50, my parents just bought the D40X)

From what I've heard, there isn't a huge advantage to go with one or the other if you are starting from scratch (no lenses). That one should go with the camera that feels best in their hand

ETA - I am a total newbie to this, that is just a tip I've heard after researching my purchase, and my parent's purchase.

I have the canon rebel xt (350) which is an older model now. I've been very happy with it. I bought it with the kit lens and then gradually have bought myself better lenses.

I have been wondering if I should get the Rebel with the manual zoom or the automatic zoom. Any advantages to either?

Most SLR zooms have both manual and automatic settings.
I've had the Canon 40D about 6 months now. I love it.

I have the Canon 30d and will soon be upgrading to the 40d...

Canon just released (Pre-PMA 2008) the 12mp 450D XSi which will be replacing the popular XTi. I imagine Nikon will release something to compete with it.
