    Defaultplease help with violets**Updated at bottom**

    I can't seem to get a decent shot of the violets. The violets ae under the plum trees in the front yard. Eastern exposure. I shot these early morning portrait mode,





    I just can't seem to get the flowers in focus. and parts are blown out

    so I tried again yesterday evening:



    and then the flash triggered:

    The last 2 or the best. There is just too much light in the 1st 2. You can make a shield to block off some of the light. Get a piece of poster board. Can you ask someone to hold it at a position to block the light on the violets. If it appears too dark with the shield, you can use some fill flash to add a little light.
    What camera are you using? If you're shooting in manual, try decreasing your aperture to cut back on the light. Also you can underexpose it a little.

    1) Opened Photoshop :P
    2) Created a New Adjustment layer - Hue/Saturation (Color: Violet & Mode: Soft Light)
    3) Adjusted the Hue, Saturation and Lightness until I liked it...

    An alternative to Photoshop is Picasa2 which I occasionally use... It's also free.

    So there I am trying to take another set of pictures of the violets:





    when Mother Nature decided she's had enough:



    so I think I'm going to try Jim's method next time
