    This is with the lanscape setting:



    There are some manual settings on my camera that allow me to chage shutter speed:





    this is the tulip/portrait setting:



    I just can't seem to get the blurred background effect on the portrait/tulip setting

    One reason the background isn't blurred in the last picture is because you are shooting at the background as the subject. You have to have a subject app. 10 feet in front of the background. Then you have to be about 5 feet from your subject.
