    DefaultQuestion about filters.

I went on line to Beach camera. I want to purchase a couple lens filters. There are so many. Do they all fit most lens? Do I need 55mm, 49mm ??????

Yikes, I didn't think it would be this hard. Do I need to order a specific filter for each of my lens. I will take all recommendations.

I have the Canon Rebel XT & the lenses I have are the kit lens 18-55mm,
    Canon EF 28-135mmf/3.5-5.6 IS USM
    Canon EF 50mm f/1.4

    Thanks.

Look on your lens. There will be a number like 58mm on it. This is the size filter you need. Each lens is a different width. The mm indicates that width. You need at least a UV/Haze filter for each lens you own. I have a circular polarizer filter for the lens I use the most. I will eventually have a CP filter for most of my lens. They are kind of expensive. I would also like to have a Neutral Graduated Density filter. This filter helps prevent blowing out the sky by being darker at the top and graduated down to the bottom.

Georgie, If you go to Beach Camera and bring up your lens, they have a tab for recommended accessories. They will have the filters listed that fit that lens.

Good point, Linda. Georgie, you can also check out a place called B&H Video. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...Q=RootPage.jsp I really like their service, too.

If you cannot find the lens size on the actual lens- it is also sometimes found on the inside of your lens cap. That's where mine is located.

Thanks everyone. I found it on my kit lens...it is 58mm. I have to check my other two lenses.

    Yep.
Whenever I buy a lens, I always make sure I have the $$ to buy a UV filter for it. It's a must have for me for all my lenses.
I have 2 polarizers, one for my wide-angle (expensive little bugger that filter was), and one for my other lenses.
I've only got one CP filter, like Monnie-eventually I'd like (key word) to have one for all of my lenses.
Glad you found what you needed Georgie.
