    DefaultOuttakes assignment 4

Using this method with two mirrors I was trying to get my entire head, but the best I could do was this picture below.

I thought this would be good if I could also show the movement of the windmill. We had winds of 30 mph and 10º. I couldn't get the right angle to show the shadow and not have too much clutter of a background. Notice the two butt tucking fools in the background!

I was trying to get a strong shadow of the cross, but I didn't.

Linda, great attempts, I look forward to seeing everyone's shots this week.

On the windmill, because it is a stationary object and freezing the spinning of it makes it appear stopped (as if no wind is blowing) how about trying a slower shutter speed to blur the blades...adding movement to the end product???

I was trying for a silhouette. I didn't use these two. I am not sure they will qualify as silhouettes.

As stated in the assignment 4 shots, this is what you would have seen in the background had I not cropped; this is the only place in the house where I can get this effect.

some at the beach but it was still too dark

by the time the sun was this high, I couln't figure out how to get a silouette.

Cray, thanks for your kind words. I wasn't sure if the photo was just the 'black dog...white background picture. I used a different one in the assignment section.

The second shot is very nice. It's a lovely sunrise, and nice with Zoe's silhouette. If you want a shadowy effect on the last picture, meter off the sunrise. This will underexpose Zoe.

"This picture was taken a couple months ago at Mepkin Abbey. It's rather dark, but I like it that way. It was dark under the tree. This is the way it was. Can you tell just what it is?"

Monnie, to answer your question on your assignment picture, it's a tree branch over water.

Mark, actually, it's a tree branch grown INTO the water. Good job.

I love these three "shadowy" picture of Ivy, but I didn't use them because I had already posted them last week in Lab Chat. Oddly enough, these pictures are taken in the same chair as the photo that I did post this week ... that chair has the BEST light in the house!
