Does it have to be a picture of our dogs? I think I'm going to have a hard time capturing a black dog running in the snow. lol. Although, if I can get out today, it might be easier, since it is pretty overcast.
This is my dog. His name is Tucker. And we live in Ontario, Canada, eh!

I tried to get some freeze shots yesterday. I know you folks talk about cropping, but it's near impossible for me to get closer to Zoe while she's running like a fool monkey, lest I get run over. Any suggestions?

Also, will attempt to get some at the beach, but there is no way I can get a good freeze of her from the front because that means I have to get into the water and she makes some of the biggest splashes, which may get on my camera. Suggestions?

It's alright with me, if it's alright with gerst001 and the others, if you slightly crop this week's pictures. I was out taking pictures of Buddy for this lesson, too. Without someone to help, it's impossible to get close enough to get a decent shot with cropping. I too would like to be able to crop my shot. I will go along with what the rest say.

okay, I'll wait for the replies from the others. If we do "cropping via computer program" should we note that when we post our pics?

What about using the "Sports" setting if you are not ready to venture into the manual modes?

Yes, definitely use "Sport" mode. This should freeze the action. The camera will sense the fastest shutter speed, ISO, and aperture for the available lighting. Make sure that you have enough available light to allow the camera to use a fast SS.

feel free to crop, but try to keep the cropping under 15% of your full image.
