    DefaultHummingbird Study (pics)!

This is not lab related but we had a cabin full of Labs this weekend when I took these pics.* I was sitting on the deck of the cabin yesterday afternoon and the humminbirds were so thick I thought I better take a few pics. The lighting was not the best for pictures but I really enjoy watching these little birds. I also could not resist taking a picture of this cloud.

    Great pictures! Very nice.

We have hummingbirds in our yard, but they are extremely territorial - there is never more than one at a time at the feeder. Whenever a second one shows up, one chases the other one away.

Those are some pictures!* I've never seen so many at a feeder together!

We have the same thing, usually, that rottnlab dad described...one sits perched, watching, and when others come in, swoops down to chase 'em away.

Hope you don't mind, but here's another hummingbird...a rufous, found out west (we watched him recently when out there).* He was perched everyday, guarding the feeder....a beautiful rust color.

I am glad that you all enjoyed the pictures!

Djc1249, thanks for adding that pic that is a beautiful little hummingbird.

lebets, We have had our camera for about five years now it is an Olympus C4040 Zoom 4.1 megapixel. It is a dinosaur compared to what is on the market now in the camera world but we have been really happy with the pictures it takes.

    What amazing photos!
I, too, have never seen hummingbirds share a feeder.

It takes a photo to see just how beautiful each individual one is . . .*
