    DefaultWhat water bowl is good

My 5 month lab loves to play with his metal water bowel which ended up with alot of noise, water, and puppy playing ice hockey accross the kitchen! So we bought him a heavy china bowl but he still does the same and has managed to pick it up! Are there any heavy bowls that he was find hard to pick up? It's funny to watch but a problem. And if you try to take the bowl off him he thinks it's a game and runs round like a lunatic waiting for you to chase him!

Puppy ice hockey, what a great name for it. Mine does the same thing. Drives me nuts becuase he's in our sunroom and I watch tv back there. I can't hear a thing with his racket going on.

I take his bowl away once he's done drinking, I don't let him have unlimited water. He just ends up dumping it out anyhow.

And the game of running around when they have something you want, that's the best game ever if your a lab I've come to learn.

I think a lot of puppies play the water bowl games. Maxx is 2 and still likes to put his face in the water and blow bubbles. He still leaves a trail of water from one end of the kitchen to the other. Fortunately he stopped picking the bowl up and dumping the water every where. I stuck to the stainless steel bowls for fear a china one would break and he would cut himself.

    It's not a bowl issue - it's a training issue.

I have only ever used stainless bowls.

He seems to be doing it a lot less now the weather has cooled down. He is water mad and loves to dunk his head and blow bubbles too! I'm hoping it's just a puppy phase, he is very well trained just water obsessed.

Have you tried getting a baby pool for him for the yard?

I use stainless steel bowls but they go down inside a hole in a wooden stand that sits up off the ground. I dont think Todd can get the bowl out of it. Maybe try one of those?

I found filling the heavy mix master bowl I use only about a third full thwarted the playing till he grew out of it. It was tough on the cats though, they had to reach down a lot lower to get a drink, but they managed.
