It sounds like it should be OK - I can put this question to my Rally group if you wouldn't mind. If Rally Advanced is first and he qualifies, he wouldn't be able to go into the Novice class (I don't think anyways, unless it it one of those things that depends on the Trial Closing date)
Pat, that would be great, see what they say. I'm confused. I'd like to do both, if I can. I don't think he's really ready for off-leash yet. He's too social and will be off visiting everyone. So I'd like some success at being on leash, but would still like to try it off leash too
Gee, I would think you would have to finish the RN before moving to Advanced. I know with the RAE if you enter both Advanced and Excellent it will count towards a RAE leg, but I'm not sure bout Novice and Advanced. I'll have to e-mail my instructor since she's a judge.

Ok, so if I show in both, and Advanced is first, and we Q, then we would not be able to show in the Novice class later?
I don't really think Remington is ready for offleash, especially in that crowded building where we have Rally, but I'd still like to try, but if he doesn't do it, I'd like to run him in the Novice class on leash for the experience.
I asked one of the judges on the Rally list again about it and she thought that even if Advanced were first and you Q'd, that you could still enter in Novice that day because it would be after the closing date - you can do it in Obedience, so she thinks you can do it in Rally too - she also suggested that you ask AKC
