We went to Columbus today and entered in Rally for an RAE leg, and in Open A -trying for our first Q. She did well in Rally - better than she's done for a while. The course was fairly easy, but the judge was tough - graded like obedience. She got a 97 in RE and a 93 in RA - 4th place in RE. Open was another disaster. Heeling bad, walked slowly on the DOR, but did it. After that, when I would give a command, she just sat and looked at me - never moved. Oh -I forgot, she did start after the dumbell on ROF, but after about a minute and just when she started, I groaned a little (for what I thought was a non-start) and of course she stopped immediately and looked at me. We are going to start over in heeling - right from the start, concentrate on Rally, and maybe even go back to showing in Novice for a while. We can't keep repeating this performance.
Congrats on the RAE leg. Hang in there with Open ......... it is a tough transition for the dogs but they do get it eventually.
