I found out yesterday that our club is offering the CGC test this Thursday after Emilu's class. (we sure don't have a good way of communicating this information to club members!). I have decided to try to get Skippy's CGC - there really is no reason why he shouldn't be able to get it - except for that pesky "supervised separation" - he's such a baby! Guess what we'll be working on in the next 4 days?
Good Luck! What does Skippy do during the separation??
I ran a class & test last autumn. I had 13 students and all but two passed. One, I had to fail because his recall (he ran right past his handler and zoomed around and we couldn't catch him). The other dog (belongs to my vet) barked the ENTIRE time during the separation. I told her that I just could not pass him for that. Thankfully she understood
What is the problem with the spearation? He did fine with me when you left! He'll do it!

He tends to get anxious, and might get up and down and fuss a little - it all depends how he's feeling that night. He knows the people at the club - I might have more of a problem with him fussing at them to be petted! I practiced tonight with some longer stays with me in sight, and then out of sight - we got up to 2 minutes out of sight - he might have gone longer, but I didn't want to push it. He's such a goomba sweetie!
