DefaultGood Thoughts for Ruger's Eye Surgery Needed

Rugers eyes are not healing. We now have ulcers on the top of his eyeballs as well because he's squeezing his eyes shut so tightly, his eyelashes are turning in and rubbing there. He's been miserable for a month. I'm so frustrated.

Wednesday my vet is going to sedate him, debride the ulcers and do a radial keratonomy on them (not sure I'm spelling it correctly). She will make tiny grid-pattern cuts over the ulcers which will allow new epilthelial cells to stick and grow on. She will also insert contact lenses over his eyes that will stay on for 10 days.

This is our last straw. If this treatment fails, we will be at the eye specialist and I don't know what else they will try (my vet is currently working with the eye specialist on Ruger's treatments).

I'm just sick to my heart that my boy has suffered with this for so long. I know he is absolutely miserable. He needs relief to get his eyes to heal.

Any good thoughts you can send will be appreciated.

Just seeing this, Linda. I'm so sorry it has come to this. I hope they can get his eyes cleared up. Has he developed Entropian? That's were the eyelashes turn inward on the eye. This can cause all sorts of problems including ulcers. Call me and keep me updated.
