I would run her in preferred with the ortho problems you mentioned

    A small hijack:

So, if a dog has a novice preferred title can it still get a VCD1? NM. Just looked it up, yes they can ;D

Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last river has been poisoned, only after the last fish has been caught, only then will you find that money cannot be eaten. - Cree prophecy

Magnum is right at 22". I originally competed with her at the jump height of 24". She got her novice titles then blew out her knee.

I'm seriously considering starting her in Performance at 16" since she really loves running agility, but now we are dealing with some elbow or shoulder lameness and at this point in her life we are just managing it, no surgeries.

Ruger and Remington both run Performance. I just don't see a need to jump them higher than I have to. I'm in the game for the FUN of it. I only get to do a handful of trials a year, so I'd never be a top competitor anyway, so we run the lowest possible jump heights we can.

Versatile Companion Dog 1 - it's an AKC title that you get if you have NA, NAJ, CD, and TD titles (novice agility, novice agility jumpers, CD, tracking)

They have different levels of VCDs, up to one that I think is MACH, OTCH, and tracking's highest level.

I'd like to get a VCD1 on Jake as my ultimate goal (we've got a long way to go) but don't know if it will ever happen because of the tracking requirement.

VCD 1 : CD NA NAJ TD
VCD 2 : CDX OA OAJ TD
VCD 3 : UD AX AXJ TDX
VCD 4 : UDX MX MXJ VST
    VCCH: OTCH MACH CT

Obedience titles CD(Novice) CDX(Open) UD(Utility) UDX (Utility dog Excellent)
    OTCH (Obedience Trial Championship)
Agility titles NA NAJ (Novice standard and jumpers)
OA OAJ (Open Standard and Jumpers)
AX AXJ (Excellent Standard and Jumpers)
MX MXJ (Masters standard and Jumpers)
    MACH (Master Agility Championship)
    Tracking titles TD(Novice)
    TDX (Tracking dog Excellent)
    VST (Variable Surface Tracker)
    CT (Champion Tracker)

    * You can get all the obedience titles in Prefered and they will have a P at the end such as NAP or NJP. You cannot get a MACH in the prefered classes.

To date there are NO dogs that have gotten a VCCH in AKC...Who will be the first dog?
