    DefaultCC seminar

Connie Cleveland came up to our club this weekend in DE and gave a workshop. This is the 3rd one I have gone to and I always learn something new.

Bo and I had a working spot and we worked on attention while heeling and his retrieves/ff. Found out I am doing too much of the work of keeping him in heel position and need to let him be wrong so I can correct him. I tell my students that alot!! More difficult to see in yourself!

Glad you enjoyed it. I have to admit I have lost all respect for her after seeing her behavior and her dog's behavior at a show. I wonder what Brian would have done if someone had done some of the antics outside his ring. Always can learn new things though.

CC lives in my state, and she doesn't have a very good reputation. I know more than a couple of people who used to drive up to her place for lessons, and will never go back.

But you can always learn SOMETHING at a seminar, so I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Susan, wasn't her's the dog that peed all over the gating??

Yes, and laughed about it. It was where articles were. Of course Caleb went to smell it and I had to double command her. When I got out of the ring she came up to me and mentioned that I sure got some good training in. Certainly more to competing than winning.

YIkes, that certainly is poor sportsmanship if she let her dog pee all over the ring gating!

I am going to my first Sandy Ladwig seminar in October, my dog training club paid for a working spot for me!

Been to one of her seminars--had a working spot. Some good stuff. But, as has been said by a number of people, people are much different in their seminars with their methods than what they are in their private training time.

So, what are you inferring by that Susan? I'm confused. Is it Sandra or Connie related?

Sandy. When she came to this area some of the people were going on about how hard she is. And, not just her but I do see a difference with some of the competitors I compete against--what they say and what they do. So very interesting. But, Sandy does have good stuff. I know some people have tried to teach their dog that prance she does and have really messed their dogs up. I did like a lot of what she did with some of the games she plays with training. But, those who didn't care for her are also almost pure positive motivation people. I actually did not see anything that bothered me.

My instructor Elly is a Sandy fan, but modifies Sandy's methods in her teaching it to us. Elly felt that at least for Shelties, some of Sandy's methods were a bit extreme.
