Hope no one minds a random flyball post but it's an issue i'm sure most of you can relate to.
Last flyball practice (two weeks ago) Rocky was terrible. he forgot even the most basic of things. no turn (on the box), no enthousiams, no drive. nada. we had to give up - out of fear of him repeating bad behaviors.
no practice last weekend.
This morning we had practice again. It started off the same way. At a loss, we just did some recalls over the hurdles. The second time he found energy and enthousiasm. A light seemed to go off. One more good recall and we tried doing a full run. TADA! There's my boy. Full run with a good turn.
Wheh. He really had me worried. Now I know - start with recalls to get him exited and awake!

finding the on switch is so important for some dogs

I'm glad you figured it out. You just never know what makes a dog tick...and each dog is different.
