    Defaultjump command question

What command do you use for the various jump exercises?

    1. rally heel over the jumps
    2. UKC recall over the jumps
    3. broad jump exercise
    4. retrieve over the jump
    5. utility jumps

I think my trainer uses the same command (over) for 1-3. I think I may need to differentiate.

    1. I use over as I run by

    2. Recall over the jumps I do a "come" command.

    3. I use over.

    4. I tell hiim to "take it." To me it is a retrieve with a jump but to others it is a jump with a retrieve. Whatever works for your dog.

    5. "Jump."

For Rally jumps I say "jump"
For retrieve over jump - I'm not sure yet - we're just learning it. If I say "get it", which is her retrieve command, she will sometimes go around the jump and "get it". So far, if I say "jump", she jumps and gets it and jumps over the jump coming back, but I might still say a second "jump" when she is coming back to clarify what she is supposed to do. I'll have to settle on something soon.
For the broad jump, which we are just learning also, I started saying "over" to differentiate it from the other jumps, but it seems to confuse her a little. However, I have used it enough now, that she is also confused if I say "jump" by mistake. Oy Vey - another trainer error!!! I'm interested in how others have done it.

    3. broad jump exercise -- "over"
    4. retrieve over the jump -- "jump"
    5. utility jumps -- "jump" for high and "bar" for bar

    1. rally heel over the jumps
Haven't gotten that far with Caleb yet, but when I was training Mick for the high jump, I used "Hup".

    2. UKC recall over the jumps
"Mick, Come." I started with Mick in a stay on a flexi, tapping the top of the jump as I walked by, then calling Mick.

    3. broad jump exercise
    "Over"

    4. retrieve over the jump
"Take it" (Mick's command for retrieving the dumbell). To train it, as he was coming back, I stood at the jump, tapped the top, said Hup and backed away.

    5. utility jumps
Didn't get that far with Mick.

    1. rally heel over the jumps - over/heel
    2. UKC recall over the jumps - don't do UKC
    3. broad jump exercise - over
    4. retrieve over the jump - fetch
    5. utility jumps - over

    6. agility jumps - nothing. I used to say "over" but Murray was dropping bars because he was jumping way too early. My trainer and I watched, video taped, studied and finally figured out that Murray is an obedience dog at heart. When I said "over" he interpreted it as RIGHT NOW. : Since there is no way I could get my timing down to the split second he needed to begin his jump, I had to learn to run quiet and let Murray jump when necessary.

I use over for all the jumps, and front for the recall over the jumps.

We aren't retrieving over the jumps yet...
