This is so stinking cute that I just don't want to fix it.
Every time Remington does a sit when we are heeling, he lifts and extends his right paw out, like Lassie would do to wave. It's so stinking sweet. He puts it right down. I don't know why he does this, but gosh, I just can't correct him for it
You probably praised him for it at some point during training now his little brain assumes THAT'S what you want. It's funny how their minds will lock on to some thing that has nothing to do with the behavior we're trying to get. I wonder if you can get cuteness points.

Nope, I've never said anything to him about this. What I really think he's doing is "air pawing" at me to get a treat. It's nothing I ever trained him, just something he's always done, even as a little pup.
I think I'll keep it for awhile yet At least through Rally Novice.
Then I guess I'll have to start correcting it for Novice.
Ever since we brought Caleb home he's done something similar and he still does sometimes when we are heeling and he looks up at me. It is too cute!

Yep, Remington looks right in my eye, with a big ole goofy smile, and he reaches out with his paw as if to touch me. I love it, but I try not to let him know it!!!
