Henery and I spent the weekend in Flint, trialing at the Companion Dog Obedience Club show!!
We had a great time, and saw Laura again (!!) and met both of her lovely, cuddly, handsome boys, Jake and Seamus!! Jake came to visit on Saturday, and Seamus got to come on Sunday and I got to love on them both days!
Here are some pics!!
Henry with his 2nd place ribbon (Sat) and his tiger-striped bone stuffie. (Excuse the messy hotel bed!)
Henery says, "The best part of the weekend was getting to shred the big boxes my crates came in!!"
Laura took these pics of us today...
"Are you ready?"
Henry and I on the heel-free exercise (a little laggy...)
"Momma, wait up!"
HENERY: So, I gots to tell you all, labrapals, this Novice 'bedience stuff is pretty borrring. All this heeling heeling heeling! I gotta trot right next to Momma and sit pretty when she stops walking. And sometimes she turns and doesn't tell me, and sometimes she starts running away froms me! I gots to run too, to catch up! That sneaky Momma!!
Then we had to heel 'round two people who were "posts" (I always try to sneak a sniff at thems without nobody knowing). Then even more heeling without my leash on!! :
Then I gots to stand still with NO WIGGLING while the judge comes over and pats my head and pats my back!! What's up with that?? No wiggling?? That's no fair for a lab, you know. Harumph!! >
I like the come when called. First Momma leaves me at one end of the ring and I's s'posed to wait there till she says really loud, "HENRY! FRONT!" Then I gets to run as fast as I can (I always do this as fast as I can, cuz I love my Momma) and I poke her in the belly with my nose (this makes her giggle a bit) before I sits down smartly in front. Ha! Then she tells me with her hand to go 'round back and I gots to sit pretty again in heel position.
Then come the long sits and downs. Borrrring again. How much fun do you think it is to hafta sit still for a whole minute and not wiggle? You try it!
I don't look so excited, do I?
And then you gots to lay down for THREE minutes and not wiggle!! I likes to freak Momma out a bit during long sits by looking around to see what else is going on, and to see who my neighbours are, and watch the dogs in the next ring... cuz they're ALWAYS doing something more fun than me. They're usually jumping or sniffing articles or bringing back gloves.
Then on long downs, I like to roll back and forth on my hips. I think it makes Momma's heart stop every time. As long as I keep my elbows on the ground, I's good. I REALLY scared her today, I did a BIG roll, and right after I did it, the judge started writing something on her clipboard!! Momma thought we were toast for sure, that I must have picked up my elbows.
But, I didn't!! Turns out Judge Lady was writing about someone else. And you know what? WE CAME IN FIRST!!!! WOOHOO!!!!
Here is a pic of my new pal, Seamus. He thinks I'm a girl.
Here is us waiting for hot dogs.

Having to do all that really hard stuff, and then getting humped...
Ruby says 'Great job Henry! And now I know I am your most favorite friend because you share your toys with me, and because I don't hump you!'
Awesome job you two, congrats on the ribbons, they are so nice!
