You cannot bring Canadian dog food across the border. At least not into Michigan! It doesn't matter what protein-base it is (ie. they're not just banning beef-based food), if it was manufactured in Canada, you can't bring it in.
Wonder if this is a new rule or not, as we were in NY state a few months ago with Orijen and no problems. (They never asked).
Thank GAWD Henery is currently eating home-cooked. Otherwise, he might have been fasting this weekend too!!

Interesting. I know when we have come into Canada and back they never asked about what food we had for our dogs. Where did you cross? Did you say you were crossing at Port Huron?

You can cross as long as the bag is unopened and you don't mind if they take it.
Don't bring food in ziplocs etc.
