    DefaultHere's a fun question

Okay, if you could come up with and introduce a new agility obstacle, what would it be?

I would love to have a water obstacle on course. Like in cross country horse jumping, there is usually a jump where the horse has to land in the water. That would be a BLAST

Are you kidding me? With Labs? I can see it now. Murray beelines from the start, straight for the water, does his best Dock Diving Dog immitation, and it's all over from there.

Heck, he can't even do obedience near a swimming pool. :-\

It isn't a new obstacle but I kind of like the 4 way dog walk where it is used to change direction on course 90 degrees or straight ahead. It takes up a lot of room though so it will never happen.

I saw those cross-overs in pictures only, never at an actual trial.

Oh yes, it would be fun with the Labs and a water obstacle

UKC does have a water obstacle (or at least used to), just as you describe. I think it has to be the last obstacle on the course

LOL! A water jump was what exactly what I was thinking when I read the first post. Weird how sometimes people think along the same lines ...

That said, I don't know how feasible it would be for clubs to do...The kind I'm thinking of would have to be built into the ground. I'm not sure how that would be managed at an indoor trial. Any ideas?

You could use a non-slip surface inside a kiddie pool I suppose

Or have a low ramp set up, leading up to the water jump, then another ramp down..

While we're at it, how about cross country/hunter style agility?

kaytris, that would work with a little incorporation of raian's idea using the baby pool. And then you could have contact zones on the ramps. That would be neat!

A cross country jump would be neat as well, but kind are you thinking about? The kind where there would be a ramp up but not down or maybe a down ramp that is set lower than the up ramp (the kind that would normally be built into the side of a hill)? Or something else?

I don't think the majority of agility handlers could handle cross-country agility, LOL!!!
