    DefaultAKC agility rumor

I heard a rumor this weekend that AKC is considering getting rid of the table...at least at the upper level. They are wanting to shave some time off of the trials and 5 seconds/table/dog really adds up.

Yet they want to allow mixed breeds and make trials even longer?

I think the table should stay. IME, in a lot of cases it shows the difference between the out of control dog who won't stop and the one who is working with its handler.

The real reason is that the table is subjective to the judge's count. In other words, one judge may count faster or slower than the next judge. For that matter, the same judge may count at a different pace for each run. Unless they'd actually have a digital timer on the table, it is not fair to all runners when at the upper levels tenth's of seconds really count

I think they should do away with it.

I like the way CPE uses the table... as a means to stop the clock only

AAC doesn't use the table at the masters level either... maybe not even at advanced, I'm not sure...

On another comparitive note, do any of the american organizations have 'team' events?

USDAA has several team events. They have a pairs class. They also have DAM tournaments (never been to one but I know it involves teams). To my knowledge, I've never seen teams in AKC or NADAC.

The only one I'm aware of is Pairs class in USDAA.

Hasn't the AKC already done away with the table at the Agility Nationals and the Invitationals? I don't remember seeing it at the Agility Invitational last year?

You are correct Kelly, they did do away with it there.

The table doesn't bother me (although my pugs have hated it). I wonder though if they will do away with the teeter some day like NADAC currently has.

I like the teeter Ruger and Remington like it. Magnum does it but it's not her favorite, she hits that pivot point and gingerly makes it go down
