DefaultOur first agility trial was today!

We went to our first CPE trial today, which was also a first trial for both dogs, and me! We had a great day!!

Peanut rocked her jackpot (like gambler's) course, won first place and Q'ed! Good pin! Then, halfway through her standard course she decided she was not going to do any more tunnels or the chute, which is very odd since those are two of her favorite obstacles. I thought maybe it was a weird fluke, but she did the same thing on the colors course. So, jumper's was last and I just made my own course with just jumps and the tire so she could end on a good note. At the end of the trial the judge graciously let us go in and work the tunnels, she helped me do some restrained recalls through them and by the end she was running through them happily again. I wonder if maybe she stepped funny inside a tunnel on the standard course or something. The things you learn in trials! I would have sworn if she was going to have issues with anything it would be the contact obstacles, I NEVER would have guessed she'd balk at the tunnels/chute. Ah well, all in all she was great! Flew over the jumps, no issues with anything else. Listened well and really tried hard, GOOD GIRL!!

Here's her with her first place and Q ribbons:

Minpin on the start line. How cute is she?

Flying through the air with the greatest of ease!

Baloo.... ah Baloo. He was actually surprisingly good, but still a spastic 2 year old lab, LOL! I was right about him being the comic relief, he bounced through the whole course (he was in standard and jumpers) literally, bounced. I don't think he had a true running stride through either one. He did well though, listened well for the most part, and actually would have Q'ed in jumpers but he knocked a bar on the second-to-last jump. (He went over a jump the wrong way in standard, so NQ. And it was the first jump!)

Here he is on the start line, good focus!

    On course:

    Finishing the jumpers round:

Overall I was REALLY pleased with both dogs, we stayed safe and had fun, GREAT first trial!

    GREAT report

I love that faclity and if the judge was who I think she's also awesome

thats one of my fav things about cpe - if it's small and there is time they will help you once it's all done with stuff that pops up (like chutes)

    thanks for the update

    great pictures

just so you know - in level 1 a bar down is ok in cpe ... you don't get full points for point accumulations but you cna get a q ... ALWAYS doubel check q status in cpe even when you are SURE you didn't ... I've been happily shocked a few times (and have only done cpe 7 days so far)

    Thanks Linda, it WAS fun!

Peanut has hit/knocked a jump once, and only once. I think she really didn't like it (she's sensitive) and decided never to do that again. If I can get her confidence up she'd be great at the fun little "high jump" competitions they have at demos and the like. She can really fly when she wants to.

I used to take her to the barn with me, and when she decided enough was enough she would jump back into the car through the open window, never touched the door. It was a jetta (which sits high off the ground) and she's only 14 inches tall!
