Defaultyeah!! a UKC trial in Southern California

I just noticed there is going to be a UKC obedience trial in San Diego on April 7th. I will finally get a chance to compete in UKC. Now all I have to do is find the rule book I got 8 months ago so I know what to do.

The only MAJOR difference in Novice is that the recall is over a jump with people standing on both sides of the jump. I just got Maddy registered and we are doing it in March.

You also don't do your down as a group. Your dog downs individually while another dog is working in the ring (on lead heeling and figure eight).

Interesting! It almost sounds like rally (the "honor" position)! Where is the UKC obedience show, Kelly? We certainly don't have many UKC events (other than weight-pulls) down here, period. Do they have multiple shows per day, like with conformation events?

I've been thinking of doing this as well. Mainly to sharpen Ruger's skills in heeling (which he has always sux at). Looks like a fun class. I think he would do all the exercises without a problem. The recall over the jump will be interesting and depends on how close the stewards stand to the jump (Ruger might go visit).

Yes, if it lists it as T1/T2 on the same day, they do two shows on the same day! It's pretty awesome since you are there anyway. But be mentally prepared for a LONG day. If they run on schedule, all is fine, but the first 2 show day I attended, both morning and afternoon ran INCREDIBLY late and it was held in a horse arena with no heat, and it flipping FREEZING and we were there until like 8PM.....
