DefaultSun Rally results for my Jr Handler - pix included

Well Sun was not good for anyone in this household. My daughter and Essy placed 2nd with an 83 (only 2 teams qualified and 1st was only an 84).

Apparently Essy needed her anal glands expressed since she decided to scoot around the ring on her butt anytime there was a sit. : I just had them done 2 weeks ago. > I was very proud of Meghan. She held it together even though I know she was really embarrassed. She made Essy redo the exercises and she attempted the call front 1-2-3 backwards twice (the first time and 1 retry) before going on (10pt deduction) since she knew she was never going to get it right with Essy scooting all over.

Here are pictures of my girls from Sat and Sun:

    stand and walk around

jump to sit down sit. Meghan is awesome at keeping Essy in heel position for jumps

Now that is beautiful! Meghan always has the biggest smile on her face, isn't that what it is all about?

    Great job ladies!

Good job, Essy and Meghan!!! ;D

I'll bet she was embarrassed about the scooting. Bummer (no pun intended). :-\ Sometimes, though, things will happen when you least expect (or want) them to (like when my Libby came racing up to me and then went racing out of the ring on a recall exercise at my first match- I could have died). So, I suppose it is a good lesson in humility and keeping it all together when you just want to crawl in a hole! I think all kids should compete with animals- they teach us more than all humans combined, I think!

She looks like she's doing a fantastic job, and congrats on her first place!!! Whoo-hooooo!!! ;D

Unfortunately Meghan has had more than her fair share of humiliation with Essy at a time when her own hormones are going crazy making her quite emotional. So far Essy has peed in the ring, pooped in the ring, ran out of the ring to me, and now butt scooted in the ring. Normally this type of thing (anything other than perfection) reduces Meghan to tears so the fact that she held it together and even laughed about it (although her eyes were welling up) makes me think that she is learning. I've told her many times that dogs will always be dogs and do doggy things so we just have to laugh about it and go on. Maybe it's started to sink in.

Those are great pics!! Meghan is just so cute.

I know that had to be so embarrassing with all the scooting. But she handled it very well. She is really a great handler! You can see it in her photos!

Reminds me of the other Lab owner at our club and her daughter, Abby. Abby is about 13 and has been doing Rally with Carolina, their black Lab. I can't believe how poised she is at such a young age. Meghan looks very together too.

Yes she is a very good handler...good enough that a friend (multi OTCH trainer) noticed and has taken her under her wing for obedience training (she approached us). ;D I was going to start them in Novice this spring but my friend told me to hold them out for awhile (new plan is Jan '08) She said they are capable of very high scores.
