    DefaultUncertainty with Caleb

Well, Caleb fell off the grooming table Saturday at the show (not just once mind you but the hard headed Lab did it twice! :) and by yesterday he whimpers when he goes up the steps. He won't even try to jump up on me. Tomorrow I take him to his holistic vet and then Thursday to a doggie chiropractor that has come highly recommended. So, his vacation might be one of rest. We'll have to see about the next obedience trial. Always something!

I've always wondered if showdogs ever fall off their grooming tables....now I know.

    Poor/silly Caleb.

Unfortunately yes and the endings are not usually happy. There was a recent story of a dog that hung himself at a show. He was tied to the grooming table and the groomer/handler left him unattended. They came back to find out he strangled himself. AKC immediately instituted rules about leaving dogs unattended. There have been lots of articles in the news where dogs have died or been severely injured during pet shop grooming too.

Why even put a lab on a grooming table? What's to groom, really? Most of the breeders I know do a quick wipe down and are in the ring?

Sorry Caleb has hurt himself. Perhaps a good swim in the pool will help him I hope he'll be feeling better when you come down for the visit.

Poor guy, hope he feels better soon.

I was wondering about the grooming table too. My dogs seem to do better when I don't even give them a bath. Just some brushing the night before, and right before the ring, and off we go.

It was really bad out so I was cleaning him up. Bill has his grooming table set really low so it is lower than our mini-van. But, Mr. C. just was not paying attention and plopped off. He does seem a little better tonight. Did some heeling and he is sitting faster. He still is not stretching. But, tomorrow we go to the holistic vet and Thursday to the chiropractor.
