Bo's obedience adventures
We started the trip in Catoctin, MD with an interesting debut. Here is the summary of the beginning......
Well the Saturday debut is in the history book. Bo did a fantastic stand for exam!! He decided afterwards that going back toward the opening in the ring was the perfect opportunity to practice his meet and greet style with a corgi. I had to go get him and Phyllis Broderick kindly asked me if I wanted to be excused which I gratefully accepted!! His on lead heeling left alot to be desired.
I was glad that we were not in the stay line since another dog decided to meet and greet in that line and I am sure Bo would have joined him for some party time!!
We did some practice Saturday night in that same ring during a C match. We worked on entrances, staying in the ring and heeling. I do know I will take his collar to guide him back to postion tomorrow ......... I had forgotten that that is allowed. We'll see if he is better tomorrow.
Well day 2 was better ...... we actually got to try each exercise this time and he didn't leave the ring. Bo's sit was broke along with tight leads and way wide off lead healing. We definitely need to work on that!! We finally NQ'ed on the last exercise, the down stay. Stay tuned for the ongoing saga of Bo's obedience career!!
Now we headed off to Baltimore and the Oriole shows ........
Bo and I did some better the first day on Saturday ....... attitude was better and he had a good time in the ring. We had moments of brilliance!! We almost Q'ed but Bo decided that Zoomies were fun during the long down. He managed to get 2 dogs to join him when he went over to them!! The judge let those 2 dogs and handlers redo the down stays (and they Q'ed). Needless to say we have worked on stays tonight with Kona in the garage, porch and family room!!
and finally the last entry this year ............
Bo redeemed himself today ....... held both stays with me giving him the don't you dare move stare!!! and we qualified for our first novice leg. And now the fun begins!!!!
Stayed tuned for more entertaining stories about my crazy and fun yellow boy in 2010.
