Default*Sigh*... bittersweet experience this past week.

We have spent the majority of the past week performing with the SuperDogs at the Royal Winter Fair.

The first day we were a little late, didn't have time to warm up the dogs before the first show. Baloo was in relays, took him out completely cold and he rocked it perfectly THREE times, not ONE single mistake. This is a course he would not have seen/run/practiced since March.

All week he continued to amaze and impress me. Of course there were a few mistakes here and there, but nothing major. He ran multiple different courses with style and accuracy, consistently weaved 24 poles in the show beautifully to the tune of blaring music and screaming children, was mauled by kids and parents alike in "pat n' chat" and loved every minute of it.

My insane, unpredictable, wild-card labrador has grown into my steady eddy, my "boy friday". Peanut is a great dog, reliable as well, but he has surpassed even her, which I NEVER thought would happen in a million years. Monster has taken on "wild-card" status, lol! Although he is doing really well and learning quickly.

So... bittersweet. It is awesome that Baloo has matured so much, but at the same time it clenches my heart a little to think that he is no longer my crazy puppy, he is truly an adult dog now. 100%

Very strange mix of emotions, sheesh.

We were there on Friday. We looked for Baloo and Peanut, but they weren't in our show (6 pm).
It was packed and looked like lots of fun for the dogs and trainers.

As much as we want them to behave when they are crazy maniac puppies it sure does pull at your heart strings when they do grow up and act like the best dog ever.

Awww. Your story reminds me of the first time an instructor referred to Miles as a "seasoned' dog. I remember thinking "what?". What happened to "green dog", "young dog"? I realized, she was right, somewhere along the journey he had crossed over from "green" to "seasoned" "young" to "mature". Yes, it was great to have arrived, but kinda sad at the same time.

So, I went and got a puppy! LOL!
