SmileRECON earns his CDX - Yippee!!!

My husband showed Recon, our 3 1/2 year old lab this past weekend, to his CDX title. Still working on his heeling as he can be distracted - evidently was looking for me and our other pup when he made a turn in the ring to pass by where we were crated - and lost points there. His other exercises are fantastic though - often only a half a point off. He took a second place on Saturday and lost a run off for 4th on Sunday. Recon barks going over the Broad Jump - a holdover from agility perhaps that costs a half a point each time he does that but Sunday it did make the judge smile. Recon has such a good time and is fun to watch. My husband has worked hard with Recon to perfect his OB skills. Now I get to do agility with him for the next couple of months and I think my husband is worried that I will undo all of his OB work.

Recon is in good company- Petra Ford's Tyler barked going over one of the jumps at last year's Invitational.

    BTW- I love Recon's name!

    Oh congratulations! That is wonderful!

I think it is silly to deduct points for joyful bark going over a jump! I guess that is why I am not OTCH material. LOL!

We're lucky here - just snow to deal with - no mountains - but forecast is for 20 inches today and tomorrow in the snow belt along Lake Erie. I really hate winter. Pups seemed to like snow this am. Recon is a great pup - he's enthusiastic about everything - sometimes too much so in agility - but we're making progress. I agree with you Ann - a joyful bark should be an indication that your pup is having a good time and isn't that what its about? I for one will not try to erase that joy and if Recon loses a half point - so be it.
