Thumbs upAwesome day at the AKC Agility trial yesterday

Yesterday, I went to the English Cocker Spaniel Fanciers Club Agility trial. It is a 3 day trial but I only entered yesterday. We were entered in Open Jumpers, Open Standard and Novice FAST. Although our Standard run was a bit crazy, we Q'd. In the end, we had 3 runs, 3 Qs, 3 titles!

Here is our Jumpers run. I was real happy with this one. I did over handle the 180 at the end, but I just didn't want to risk dropping that last bar. That was our OAJ.

Here is our Standard run. I wasn't as happy with this one but we Q'd and got our OA. I had planned to run the do a front cross on the landing side if thw triple as soon as he comitted to the tunnel, but he didn't commit to the tunnel as early as I expected. I had walked the course planning the front cross OR executing a pull away from the A-Frame but I guess I thought I could make that front, I did, but nearly missed a collision with my dog and it was just not pretty. I'd seen too many dogs go up that A-Frame after the triple that I really wanted block it. At the second tunnel, I did a good pull to get him to the left entrance, it worked, I should have left him alone. I was so worried about him going in the right, I called him and he turned to me. "What dya want mom?" Then whirled in the tunnel. We got a refusal for that. Thank God the table came after that. Gave me a chance to cool my jets! The rest of the course went fine.

Finally, at the end of the day we did Novice FAST. I didn't bother to have anyone record it. We Q'd and got the NF. The gamble was a teeter to tunnel. I was thrilled that Miles took the teeter with me 6 feet away. He took his time at the tipping point. He now makes sure he doesn't go anywhere until the end is all the way down. Bless his heart! I was thrilled to death!

Now we move up to Excellent A.

Our next competition is Utility in 2 weeks. Yikes!!!

Ann - You and Miles looked great on Friday - again congratulations on your 3 titles - I was hoping Recon would pick up a tip or two from Miles - like how not to be so wild - but you're on to Excellent and we have a long time to go to get there!!! See you in Youngstown. B
