Our day couldn't have gone much better today, considering that this is my busy time of year and training time is not real plentiful. Kiku (17 mos) had probably the toughest course they can put together for RA. I had to run out after getting the course map and review (read semi-teach) a 180 degree Left Pivot. LOL. I don't TRAIN *for* Rally! GASP.... she ended up w/ a perfect 100 score in Rally Advanced and the blue. She won me a much needed new AKC doggy first aid kit -- looks great!
I literally ran to the Open A obed ring (where they knew I had a potential conflict) to learn they were waiting on us rather than take the next dog in order and run us last as I had suggested. Ackkk! Judge says "take your time" (to warm Envy up)-- yea right... I can't take my time when people are waiting on me. Anyhow, Envy was a little spacy on heeling but her same exuberant self (this is the same judge I debuted her under--- a Golden person). She did her number on my glasses by popping up out of the recall front and bopping me enroute. lol. Judge laughed.. he remembers her breaking for the puppy toy in his Rally Adv ring in June! She was the only dog to make it thru individual exercises w/ a Q though.... and then came long (out of sight) sits/downs. Whew.... we did it for Q#2 and a 1st place though only a 182. But not bad for a barely 22 mo old..... and the only one of 14 dogs to Q. We won a club embroidered fleece blanket.
Thankfully the judge took lunch so I could relax since Kiku had the same judge for Nov B obed. I took the 2 over to the boat ramp (this park is on the Columbia River--- big river!) and though I didn’t have anything to throw, they just "pleasure cruised". Love that site as the water is far enough away that Envy cant see the river from the rings (drives her crazy to see the river but not be able to swim!) but close enough to get to.
Kiku was one of the last of another 14 Novice B dogs to go in. It was getting pretty warm by then, ~80 or more. She had a couple crooked sits on heeling and moved her front feet on the Stand for Exam (that was a first but the dogs seemed to really like that judge) so had at least 3 points off there. She did great for her recall (had broke w/ this same judge at our lab specialty in Aug as she anticipated the recall when he gave a verbal "Call your dog!". She did fantastic today on that though. Perfect front, nice finish. Did great on the long sits/downs (in the sun). I still thought we only had a mid 180 score since he's a tough judge but voila, 190.5--- good for the Blue again! And another club fleece blanket!
Tomorrow is another day. They are both vying for titles now (ahhh the pressure!).....No Rally tomorrow as that club (a show club) won't refund for bitches in season and w/ Kiku at 17+ mos (and not yet w/ a season) and 2 here in full season it was a terrible bet that she'd not be pulled in by now. But lo, she's not even swelling! Obed is far more important to me than Rally so I risked the $26 or so for tomorrow.
Also won a water bucket and treats etc in the raffle. Should have gone to the Casino tonite as my luck is "on" apparently! Anne
Congrats Anne .. you and the girls are doing great.
Wow! What a fantastic day! I hope tomorrow is just as successful! Congratulations!

So Kiku made it after all, and here you were so sure you would lose your entry fees.
Good for her, and Envy, and you too.
Oh, and I'll meet you at the casino, I'll supply the cash, you supply the luck.
Jealous - Envious - please as punch for you guys! What a way to go
Today's report-- Not QUITE as stellar, but I'm pleased, nonetheless.
Envy was doing GREAT up until the Broad Jump! She had a decent score going. And looked at the BJ like... are you kidding? And came to me. Even the judge did the "EEEK" thing. I smiled and said "And that *was* for Title". Ackkkk! The judge kindly said she must have noted some tension or something, and "I'm so sorry!". I replied saying, Ahh well, she's very young and we ARE having fun... Guess she just wasn't ready to finish it up. And it's true, she's barely 22 mos.
Sits and Downs got a bit tense however as the dog next to us was being handled by a gal other than her owner. She had some obvious issues w/ the dog on the Sit but got thru it. We came back for Downs, and the dog was real slow to Down for the handler. When the dog finally went down, it was on an angle facing Envy. Judge said that won't do, she didn't want that dog looking at "the lab"... please straighten it up. Well, the dog bolted to the other end of the line where her owner was, who tried to leave her other dog and put it back (but of course that isn't legal-- only the handler can handle the dog now). WELL.... the dog started into a Cujo barking mode w/teeth bearing at the handler!!!!! Judge had to excuse the dog (thank doG). Scary! Downs went fine. Hope the dog was written up--- temperament issues in the Open ring are downright scary w the out of sight stays.
Kiku was next into the ring for Nov B. She isn't as good of a heeler on lead as off (she's really nice off lead) so bumped me a couple times... and actually the one time her paw placement was so bad I stepped on her by accident! Maybe she learned something... Anyhow, everything else went great other than a near auto finish on the recall which she tried to make up for on the finish (lol), sits and downs also were great despite alot of distraction w/ the show folks nearby doing down and backs near our ring... and oh... squirrels too!!! She Q'd w/a 190.5 once again, only good for 3rd today, but that was for her CD title! Yea Kiku! She's now WindyCanyon's Kiku A Fuji Too CD RN (+ 3/4 JH, 1/3 RA) at 17 mos. And nope, she's not in season YET despite her Aunties both being in full blown heat! She has my permission to just get it over with now! Anne

PS, the squirrels. Just before Envy went into the Open ring, another dog was working in the ring. I don't think the dog even noticed the squirrel running thru but we all noticed the large GSD (his name was "Judge"!) that ran thru scaling all the baby gates flawlessly! We all told the owner later that agility was in her boy's blood for sure! He had already NQd in Nov A, so was laughing about it....
Another dog in Open who we know, and was just behind Envy went to retrieve the dumbbell over the jump, approached the jump and stopped, looking up into the tree at a squirrel. Finally jumped the jump and completed her retrieve --- one of 3 to Q in the end!!!! Yea!!!!! Fun day.
