After nearly 2 years without a competitive agility trainer and muddling through on our own, our coach finally got a new location and we've been back at lessons for about 2 months now.. I decided to enter a CPE trial last weekend to see where we're at. And we got a Q! It wasn't pretty and the judges and ring crew deserve extra kudos for not clobbering her when she repeatedly mugged them, but we now have a q in fullhouse.
We've seen in class that if I run full speed ahead and don't babysit her she usually keeps up and stays focussed, and the fullhouse course was perfect for that - I was able to plan a course around the perimeter, then cut across the middle to the table, for sufficient points at level 1. My plan didn't take into account that the last stretch would be leading straight to the end gate, where all the spectators and the young girl acting as gate steward/leash runner was standing. So I nearly lost her at the gate, when she stood with her nose in the gap for several really really long seconds as I desperately tried to get her back into the tunnel just beside her - got her into the tunnel just as the whistle went so I hightailed to the middle, got her on the table and a Q! 26 points! 1st place at her jumpheight! Yay! We is BACK in business girly!
we is jealous and thrilled all at once

And, doesn't it feel great to be back in action! I can't wait to hear more of your trial results. Keep up the great training and having fun with your dog!
