    DefaultRAE leg #8 last night

We went to Youngstown All Breed last night for rally and got leg #8. Miles performance was overall better than what it was a few weeks ago. We've really worked heeling attention. However, he was a bit off his game because both courses had the dreaded off-set figure 8 with foodbowls AND tennisballs. Miles is distracted by their presence from the minute he enters the ring, not just when we are by them.

We did Advanced first and got a 93. He looked so worried at first. He looked at me like "Mom, I don't want to screw up but I don't trust myself with those bowls!" We had to redo the off-set figure 8, and I know we got hit for some crooked sits. He was looking at those bowls and toys! Excellent was better. 97 and 4th place. That run was second, and it was much easier to keep his focus the second time around the ring with the bowls there. We've worked those alot but new and different bowls in a new place are always very distracting for this dog! He looks at them, but doesn't act on them, and that takes an enormous amount of self control for this dog!

Ann - You and Miles did a nice job in both courses. Too bad Shamrock was paying no attention and didn't use Miles as an example to emulate. It was a long drive for such a lackadaisical performance. Do you suppose my failure to practice Rally since March 13th might have something to do with it? As always, fun to see you and Miles. B

Thanks B! I am sorry I missed your run, but was outside "paying" Miles for his work. It was great to see you.
