    DefaultSecond Open Leg today!

    Yippee!!!

We went to Cleveland All Breed's obedience trial today and we qualified in Open!! This was our second leg. We got our first last October and this one was much better than the first. I am very pleased.

    The things I liked:

Most of the heeling pattern. We had a big lag as Miles checked out the Utility ring. The second about turn was fabulous! We've worked hard on those.

Liked both retrieves. The judge insisted I rethrow for the retrieve over the high jump. I don't think Miles would've had a problem, but the judge was being nice and I didn't want to argue.

    I liked the broad jump.

    The things I didn't like:

The DOR was pretty late. I have no idea why he had a brain fart on the finish. Oh well.
The figure 8, although he can do these much worse. Lag, lag, "ooh, what's that on the floor? Oh, I am supposed to be sitting next to mom!" At least he came back! LOL!
The checking out the utility ring during the heeling pattern
Working the crowd during the finish after the flat retrieve. Gotta work on those distractions!

    YouTube - Open Obedience-leg 2-Cleveland All Breed March 13, 2010

They gave us score sheets as we left the ring, which was pretty cool.

Heel free and figure 8 -4
    DOR -2
    Retrieve on Flat -2
    Retrieve over High -1
    Broad Jump -1
    5 min down stay -1

Score 189 Good for second place!

Susan, it was great to see you and Micah! Micah always makes me feel like his long lost friend that he has missed terribly. I hope you two did well!

Betsy, it was good to see you and Shamrock. You two were so well turned out in green. Of course, with a name like Shamrock.....I hope you did well too!

    Thanks everyone!

There is a video link in the middle of my post but I see it is sort of hard to spot.

Today we try for the title. I don't even want to say it.

Ann - It was great to see you yesterday and hear your good news of a Q. An Open A competitor told me that she was pretty sure you had qualified today. I was a Steward in what turned out to be almost a whole day commitment which I had not planned on so I got to see nothing of what was going on in Open and Utility. I hope she was right and that big congratulations are in order.

Thanks for noticing the "wearing o' the green." This is the best time of year for a dog named Shamrock.
