    DefaultA question about duck...

I bought a whole frozen one today at the market... when thawed, could I chop it into quarters and give it to Henry? I think it came with organs too...

Most dogs love duck. It is a bit richer than chicken and some dogs can have softer stool from it.

    Thanks, Susan!

Maybe I'll give him a little bit of it to start, to see how his tummy is.

I feed every duck (minus head, feet, and feathers) during duck season. More and more I'm seeing kibbles with duck in it...it's a really good alternative for dogs with allergies. Jes doesn't have allergies, but it's free during duck season.

Like Susan mentioned, it's fattier so you don't have to feed quite as much as you would if it were chicken.

my mothers lab/shiba inu mix, Teddy has to eat a doctor prescribed duck and potatoe dog food. He has such severe allergies that steriod injections dont work. He chews his fur off so that there are bald patches. He's doing pretty good on this new food. I keep telling my mom to go raw with him, but she just doesn't feel comfortable doing it, its a shame, I know it would really help with Ted's allergies.

EDIT- oh! and BTW the dog food makes his farts REAK cuz of the duck lol!

I would include some type of digestive enzyme. Might help the problem.

Where could she buy that enzyme at? Oh wait! First, funny story! So Ted is all curled up sleeping on the couch with his nose tucked under his tail, like usual. All of a sudden he farts RIGHT in his own face! Teddy wakes up and FREAKS OUT! Runs around the house whimpering. He stops to look at his butt, like, "What happened?" and right as he does this he farts in his own face...again! omg my mom almost died of laughter...poor pup! :-\

That is a hoot! Ark Naturals carries a digestive enzyme for pets. In Clover's Optagest is what I use for Caleb. Many of the health food stores will carry some type in the pet section.

I hope so! I know one time I took some of the Evo canned rabbit for Caleb to a show. We were staying with a friend of ours in their RV. I didn't think about taking his digestive enzymes since I was not feeding raw. Boy did that canned rabbit give him the farts!!! He was stinking us out of the RV!!!! We were ready to put him in our minivan to sleep!!! Needless to say, I gave the rest of the cans I had left to my friend to feed her kennel dogs with. Caleb will never have another can of Evo rabbit!!! Or if he does we'll really add in the digestive enzymes!
