Hello! I had been on this forum a few years ago and changes in geography led me astray for a while!
Annie has chronic ear infections. We have tried every antibiotic out there, including a form of Cipro, which I shelled out $90 for. It didn't work. The infections are back. My vet suggested a hypoallergenic diet for her since maybe her ear infections are caused by food allergies.
My question is, do I invest in the hypoallergenic dog food from the vet, which is about $50 for 16 pounds, or feed her a raw or homecooked diet? If you say the latter, what would I feed her?
I vote for raw..At the very least remove all grains (rice, wheat, oats, corn, rye, etc.) from her diet for a while as these are often the first to be suspected. Unfortunately this pretty much excludes all kibble and dog treats/biscuits etc., which leaves you with prepackaged raw and raw.
