We processed our last deer today. Hoss and brother Red got to play the part of the "butcher's" dog!
One of the least fun parts to process are the shanks. Lots of connective tissue and silver skin. So we set these aside until last.
Hoss had an idea, and thought perhaps the pitiful yellow dogs at my feet might be able to help! Red however was a bit cautious at first.
Hoss says: "Hey Red, this is how you do it!"
There WAS about a pound of meat on just that one bone.
And this guy just tosses chuks of fat and meat my way!
And what is a dog to do, but relax on the couch after a nice big meal!
Yum. We just started so we are doing chicken and turkey and eventually we'll do more. Chocolata is little bit jealous with your pup since she has not had such a yummy bone yet. But she does get to lay on the couch after and even before good meal.

Great photos. I just love that last one relaxing on the couch -- looks totally worn out after his big meal.
Venison is one thing that gives Sami very soft stool. Not sure why, but we've learned to avoid it.
Karen those are great! Love that last one!!!!!! ;D

I can never understand when Erns eats his bones how he doesn't bite his tongue. It is always in the way.
Thanks for sharing.

Karen, I love, love, love the last picture. That's how I feel after Raian, YellowBoysMom, and I went to the Olive Garden for dinner tonight after the Obedience trial.
