That sounded very funny... Well don't know how to ask any other way. How often should they poop? I have been feeding raw for over a month. He is doing very well on it. He is now only pooping 1 x a day and sometime even skips a day. Is that normal????
Just like humans, dogs are all different (in terms of when and how often they go). I'm not a Vet but I am a nurse. We follow a few simple rules when it comes to bowel movement...
Has it been 3 or more days since your dog eliminated?
Is your dog bloated?
Is your dog's abdomen distended (harm and firm)?
Is your dog's stool hard and pebble like? (A sign of constipation issues). Or is it mucus like? (A sign of a lower blockage).
Does your dog have poor appetite? Does he/she throw up when he/she eats?
If the answer to any of these are "Yes" then I would have your pup check out by a Vet.
Like I said, I'm not a Vet but humans and other species are not THAT different. These are some of the things I look at in my patients. If you're unsure, you can't go wrong with call your Vet and asking him/she. Hope this helps.
Raw digests different and usually is used up almost 100% in the dogs system. 1X a day is sufficient unless the dog is getting veggies and lots of bone.
I have 3 dogs that are raw fed and the usual routine for my raw fed dogs is to poop 1 - 2 times daily. I don't usually get any of them pooping any less than at least once daily.
My dogs are raw fed and poop once a day. However we fast them one day per week, every sunday, and they typically dont poop on the day they are fasted. And then on mondays its back to business.
