    Defaultwaiting for the aspiration results

My almost 7 yr old lab has got a very red round spot on her back leg ankle.
I don't really like the looks of it so I took her to the vet today.
The vet aspirated it to see if it was a Mast cell tumor or something else.
Since my lab has a history of MCtumors we have to make sure that we get it all.
She gave her a shot of benedryl before she did the aspiration.
Please send good thoughts to my Emma.
As I mentioned she has had a history of MCT and last year had a cruciate surgery too.
Will let you know the outcome hopefully by mid week.
    Thanks for listening.

    Thank you.

I just hope that it doesn't take too long to set up the surgery date if we need a specialist.
The vet said yesterday that since it is on her ankle area it is a bad place to have to take extra margins
so we might have to have a specialist remove the spot if it is a MCtumor.

    Defaultresults are in

The vet called this morning and the aspiration showed the lump as another mast cell tumor.
My lab is the one with the history of them but she hasn't had one in 2 yrs.

There are a couple of weird things about this one though.

The vet wants to call in a specialist as it is on her ankle which is supposedluy a hard place to remove it.

But since the aspiration, the lump is shrinking and drying up so I am not sure what to do. I think we will see how it looks next week to see if it is indeed going away??? or still there. It certainly isn't like it was before the aspiration at all. So I am looking at this as a positive.

Will keep you posted as to the outcome of this weird spot.

Thank you for all your good thoughts for my Emma.

aw I'm sorry to hear that ...
both that it is a mct and that a specialist is needed

hoping you can figure out what is best for you and her without too much agonizing ( I am pretty decisive except for these kind of things)
