I got mail today from our vet that says that we should vaccinate Toby against Leptospirosis ('a serious, contagious bacterial disease that is spread through the urine of infected animals').
Do you think that it is really necessary to go for this vaccination? I sometimes think there are enough vaccinations that he is already getting. On the other hand we go out for hikes a lot with him
If you're in an area where Lepto is endemic, and your vet recommends vaccinating, do it.
Lepto is not only an extremely dangerous disease for dogs, it can be passed from dogs to humans if your dog becomes infected.

I agree...it depends on where you live. Lepto is the only vaccine that I give annually because I take my dogs to a ton of places and they swim in a lot of different waters.
Having had a dog who died of Lepto I would say yes. It is one ugly disease.
Thank you all...it looks like somebody is having a date with the vet. Toby likes it to go there for all the nice treats they have.

I agree that it depends. I don't give it because it's notorious for causing super bad reactions.
