How many years can one go with Titers? Kai and Samm were fully Vaccinated in their first year and the vet has done titers each of the following two years. How long does one usually rely on titers. They're each due for rabies boosters this year. What's the norm, or is there one? Is it best to continue titers testing, or should vaccines be given? Any thoughts? One request, please keep it simple, I'm not a real rocket scientist when it comes to medical jargon (and arguably other topics as well). Thanks all!
Cam - I titer til it comes back no good...then re-vac. That is a double expense, but Morgan is so sensitive to anything that I like to protect him as best I can!
well, i plan on titering but going to a 3 or 5 year protocol...except rabies, which will be 3 years.

Okay, so this being the third year of titering isn't unusual then? I don't want to over vaccinate, but will do the rabies booster, as that's required by law here (I think). Thanks guys!
I titer all my dogs. I was doing it every 2 year but now I'm doing it every 3. My 12 1/2 and 13 1/2 yr old dogs still don't need a booster. The last vaccine for D-P was when they were 2 or 3 yrs old. I will not give any of my dogs a vaccine unless the titer says there is no more responce. I do rabies every 3 yrs (the law here).
Miya had vaccinations in 2005. I titered her in 2006 to be sure. She would be due this Nov. for her 3 year vaccination. I titered her in Sept. and she is covered so no vaccinations.
