I'm away on business right now and just recieved word from my girlfriend that Marley has a growth on his tail. She said its about 1/4" long and looks almost like a claw or nail and will flake like dry/dead skin. I don't have pictures just yet but should have some shortly. It does not seem to be causing him pain, but she said he was chewing at it and thats how she came across it. It appears to be on the underside of the tail hidden in the fur. I have no clue how long this has been there, but I do try to look him over real well frequently and have never noticed it. I did a quick search here on the forums but didn't come up with anything. Not sure how concerned I need to be about this and looking for advice.
Here are the pictures.
Looks like it may be a cutaneous horn? Anyone have experience with this?
Thats what I was going to say. I've even seen this on cats pads and with that we just cut them off no pain no blood. You should be able to pick it off, it will redevelop you could have you vet freeze it and then it would be gone.cutaneous horn
I would try putting some Manuka Honey on it a few times a day, I bet it would fall off and not come back. You can get it at any Health Food Store. Lots of info on the internet about it.
