    DefaultCan dogs get colds?

    Morning everyone~

Just wondering if dogs can get colds? Shelby has been sneezing alot the past few days, her usual self is just downgraded a bit this morning, not as playful....but still terrorizing the cat as usual! I saw on her doggie bed this morning some wet spots from her nose running. Anything i can do or just let it run it's course like you would for humans?

    Thanks-- Pam and Shelby

Dogs can have a variety of respiratory problems but cannot get the common human cold virus.

"Human cold viruses don't affect dogs. However, dogs are afflicted by a number of serious respiratory diseases that initially produce symptoms like those of the human cold. A runny nose along with an eye discharge and coughing and sneezing is an indication you should seek veterinary attention for your dog." p. 200.
