    DefaultProPlan feeders

Just an FYI. One I am NOT happy about. They are changing the look of their Lamb, Chicken and Beef formulas. Adding something called shreds.
This I have known for a while. BUT today I found out on those three formulas they ARE making some ingredient changes. Adding some sort of soy products and a few other mineral ingredients I think they were. Sulfer was one....

It is also going to be more calorie dense by almost 100 cals and in 35lb bags as opposed to the 37.5 AND price increase :ugly:

No changes are going to be made to any other formulas.

I don't like change. I hope the changes won't effect the dogs. If they do, the youngsters all go on either Performance or LB. Or maybe even the Naturals.
My dogs can tollerate pretty much ANY food but I have never fed a food with soy products and not sure of the effects these will have on them.

    Ugh...did I mention I DON'T LIKE CHANGE!

I wonder if that has anything to do with the $3-$4 a bag price increase that's coming up?

Man, that's not good. Do you know if they are making similar changes to their ONE line?

I don't like it either. My girls do well on ProPlan Chicken & Rice. I did try a switch to Wellnes, which I liked, but midway through the switch Molly developed loose stools so I went back to the ProPLan which they both do really well on.

I don't know how mine will do on it either. Thanks for the info.

Do you know when the switch will occur?

Just came back to ask....how did you find this out? I just looked on their site & could not find anything. What is shreds anyway? TIA for the info.

Darnit! Just when I find a food that EVERYONE does well on...

    Sulfur--is this good? Or bad?

    Sulfer is a mineral.
I found out through where I work.
The changes are suppose to start in September.
I knew about the Shreds long ago. But the formula change, well that was new to me!

I won't switch out of Pro Plan. I love everything else they do. IMO the guaranteed analysis has everything my dogs need, then ingredients.

I will say I did recently make a dog food switch (to Wellness) though with my Maltese. But I had other reasons for that...I prefer and stand by Pro Plan. I just hope these minor changes are not going to make a huge difference in some dogs including mine. I know some dogs do NOT tolerate dietary changes well.
So far my dogs can basically eat anything...So I hope all goes well.

I think the idea of the Shreds is just absurd and ridiculous. They are just trying to appeal to the buyer.

Gotcha. I should have been more specific; can we consider sulfur to be a good (or even necessary) ingredient when added to a dog's kibble?

    thanks

    eta-
nevermind. Google IS my friend. Companies claim that sulfur added to commercial dog kibble may benefit the coat and cartilage.

I would prefer to feed Pro Plan, too. Unfortunately, Caleb can't have beef or beef fat. Not even the PP Selects Salmon & Brown Rice- it has animal fat in it.

Good question. I wonder if maybe they've already made changes to their ONE cat food. Our cat has always been a "puker" (more accurately a regurgitater), worse when she's not on a Purina food. Back in the spring I switched from regular ONE salmon to the ONE Naturals. Until the last week she's been keeping her food down. Twice now in the last 7-10 days she's puked on the back of the couch.
