DefaultSwallowed Gold Wedding Band? - What to do?

Help!!! I have lost my gold wedding band and believe that my precocious 2 year old black lab, George, may have found it and swallowed it. This may have happened this last Wednesday night or Thursday. Since I did not wear my rings Thursday, I did not discover the ring was missing until yesterday. Today is Saturday and I have searched everywhere. Even though George is in great spirits, it may be my imagination, but he looks kind of guilty. He has a special dog run and we are hosing all the piles of possibility. This last time I followed him and after a rather solid excrement, there was a period of straining and loose deposits. I am not sure if it is my wishful thinking or reality, but I could almost swear that I saw a glimmer of gold. Any suggestions???? I am not just concerned about my wedding band of 28 years, but the health of George.

Take him in to be x-rayed and then you'll know for sure.

That's the plan for Monday AM unless it is considered more of an emergency. Didn't know if others had had a similar situation and could share their experience.

watch him very carefully for any further straining trying to pass stool, vomitting or lack of appetite, and get him to the vet for an xray (you might want to withhold food and water Sunday evening - if the vet wants to put him under for xrays, his stomach must be empty.)

A wedding ring is small enough to pass with no difficulty, unless it is a solitaire with a large stone.

Collect all the poop, water them through a strainer, and hope the ring comes out in the wash!

X ray if you are really curious.

Rubber gloves if you are patient.
