    DefaultDown sides to donating blood?

I'm considering getting Baloo into a blood donation program, and am still on the fence.

I want to do it not only to help other dogs, but the program comes with many "perks", like free vaccination (when needed, we do a three year protocol with rabies and titre for distemper/parvo), full health check up at every visit, blood values provided, free heartworm testing and prevention.

They normally don't need to be sedated, just need to be able to lie on their side for about 3-5 minutes during collection. Blood is collected every two months, 6 times yearly.

Does anyone have experience with donation? Is it hard on the dog or really stressful for their bodies to give blood? I absolutely will NOT do it if there's a chance it might hurt him somehow, but I would like to help if we can.

    Any thoughts?

Mine have only donated blood when needed. So far only 2 of my guys just once and they just sat there with no trouble.
