Charlie vomited several times last night and again this morning. He refused his food this morning - is a little lethargic but still wagging his tail. He had a bowel movement this morning - a little looser than normal. Nose is cold/wet.
The only thing we know he ate other than his normal food yesterday was part of a cinnamon bun with walnuts that he scarfed off the counter.
I'm inclined to wait until tomorrow to see how he reacts. What do you think?
if he's an adult and you are in a position to not leave him today I'd be ok with watching and waiting - he may have a bug, he may have eaten something ick
if I couldn't watch him I'd have him at the vets for observation
if he was a puppy I'd take him to the vets for a good once over
I'd be worrying he got into something toxic I had missed somehow - all the observation in the world won't help him if his organs are starting to shut down
but I err on the side of a once over from the vets now - thanks to some tough experiences I wouldn't wish on anybody
I hope he rallies and feels better soon

I did find that walnuts are poisonous for dogs. He didn't get much - ate 1/2 of a bun that Lynn had on the counter so he didn't get many. I guess I'll call the vet.
Mark... Charlie feeling better??

Yeah, he's better. Not totally back to normal but he wanted food this evening. He's vomited a few more times today and had diarrehea but I think he's on the mend. The vet said to wait it out - he didn't eat enough to be dangerous - just enough to make himself sick. :vomit:
Glad to hear he's feeling better.
He's still a little nauseous - vomited a little this morning. But, he's hungry and is drinking water. I gave him 1/3 can of chicken broth based on what the vet told me. We'll see how he handles that.
Mark, if he keeps vomiting, don't give him anything except water and chicken broth for 24 hours. I just went through a bout of throwing up with Zena and she had to go in and get fluids. If they keep throwing up, they will get dehydrated, and it's the food that causes them to keep throwing up. Good luck, hope he's better today.
How is he doing today, Mark?
