I'm looking for a good venison and potato or venison and rice dry food for the boys who seem to continue having skin/anal gland issues. Our vet seems to think that it may be a food allergy. I am looking for something other than what she carries at the clinic which is pretty expensive. I know PetSmart carries one but the ingredient it venison meal not venison. I am looking for something a little bit more natural but not too expensive. Does anyone have any ideas or good brands to check into???
Natural Balance has a Sweet Potato & Venison formula, though I'm not sure if you can get it at PetsMart or not.

I can't recommend a venison food as I've never fed one, but I can say that you do want the venison meal to be first. You don't want just plain old venison (which is mainly water) up at the top.
I'll second the Natural Balance suggestion. If PetSmart doesn't have it, check Pet Value. Around here, they seem to be in the same shopping plazas as WalMart.Originally Posted by henrysmom
Nature's Variety Prairie has a venison kibble.
There is nothing more "unnatural" about venison meal over venison. Venison meal is just dehydrated venison, so that the water weight doesn't count. It therefore is better to have a named "meal" than the meat in kibble, since it means that there is more of the actual animal as compared to the other ingredients.Originally Posted by Barbian0521
also don't be afraid to try Solid Gold Wolf King large breed.
I've had good luck with it and the girls love it.
